Cutting and grinding oils

  • Cutting and grinding oils

Cutting and grinding oils are non-water-based metalworking fluids that stand out primarily due to their excellent lubricating properties. They are particularly used in applications involving high loads, strong friction, and elevated temperatures.

Thanks to their high lubricity, they reduce forces in the grinding process, thereby minimizing tool wear and thermal loads. In modern applications, they are specifically formulated with additives to tailor their performance to demanding processes.

Especially in high-performance and high-speed grinding, specially developed grinding oils are used, as water-based systems often reach their limits in such conditions. The actual performance depends less on the base oil itself and more on the coordinated viscosity and the additives employed.
