Difference between high-speed grinding and high-efficiency grinding

  • Difference between high-speed grinding and high-efficiency grinding

High-speed grinding (HSG)
Here, the focus is on cutting speed. The grinding wheel operates at significantly higher speeds than usual (typically > 80 m/s). The goal is not necessarily higher material removal, but rather a more stable process and improved controllability in demanding applications. The material removal rate can therefore remain moderate.

High-efficiency grinding (HEDG)
Here, the focus is on maximum material removal. Large depths of cut and high material removal rates are the main priorities. High cutting speeds are often used as a means to this end, but not as the primary objective.
