External cylindrical peel grinding

  • External cylindrical peel grinding

The grinding wheel is specifically chamfered at its edge so that material removal occurs mainly within a small, defined zone. This roughing zone carries out the majority of the material removal, while the following area smooths and refines the surface.

Due to the chamfer angle, a continuous contact is created along the workpiece axis. With a relatively high depth of cut, material is removed efficiently, while the trailing zone ensures a good surface finish—often in a single pass.
