Indexable inserts

  • Indexable inserts

Indexable inserts are replaceable cutting inserts that are mounted in a holder and perform the actual machining. Depending on the design, they have positive or negative basic geometries, which influence cutting behavior and stability. By indexing or rotating the insert, multiple cutting edges can be used, significantly increasing cost efficiency.
It is impossible to imagine machining without cutting inserts, which are made of some of the hardest materials in the world. Inserts are used for turning, grooving, threading, milling, drilling and boring, among other applications.
