Profile roll

  • Profile roll

In profile dressing, the desired contour is usually generated by a defined path movement, often in a uniform “pulling motion” along the grinding wheel. Depending on the direction of infeed, different forces act on the tool, which directly affect the profile quality and tool wear.

In critical areas, the strategy can be specifically adjusted to prevent chipping and maintain stable dressing results. In addition, uniform wear patterns can partly be compensated by CNC correction—however, this is only possible to a limited extent in the case of uneven wear.
