Semi-synthetic and full emulsions

  • Semi-synthetic and full emulsions

Emulsions consist of a mixture of water and oil, whose properties vary significantly depending on the oil content.

Semi-synthetic emulsions contain a comparatively low oil content and therefore provide good cooling performance with moderate lubricating ability. They are commonly used when a balanced combination of cooling and lubrication is required.

Full (true) emulsions have a significantly higher oil content and thus offer improved lubrication performance. This makes them particularly suitable for more demanding grinding processes with higher loads.

The performance of emulsions strongly depends on their composition and the correct mixing ratio, as both under- and over-concentration can lead to process issues.
