Hubble, Haas Schleifmaschinen und the curiosity
I consider curiosity and openness to be essential qualities, both in private life and in business. Engineers are said to be curious by nature and constantly in search of better solutions to technical challenges. Not always to the delight of their spouses, it should be added.
In the current advertising motif for our grinding flagship, the Multigrind® CB, the image of the Hubble Space Telescope, named after the astronomer Edwin Hubble, symbolises this curiosity. It represents the mindset that provides the right feed rate in our daily work. It is therefore no coincidence that we feel a special connection to our Hubble. This is also why we followed NASA’s recent Hubble repair mission with great interest.
It appears that everything went according to plan. According to NASA, Hubble will continue transmitting spectacular images back to Earth until at least 2014, further fuelling our curiosity about what exists out there in space.
Down here on Earth, more precisely in Trossingen at Haas Schleifmaschinen, we are meanwhile working intensively on new grinding solutions and software developments designed to make our customers’ work even easier. One example is our grinding process for the complete machining of turbine blades. And this is just one of many innovations we are currently pursuing.
In this sense, the same principle applies to us as to Hubble: always stay curious.
