Haas Schleifmaschinen: Turbine blade machined on a Multigrind® CB.
Just under three weeks ago, the Airshow 2009 in Le Bourget came to an end. For us, it was the first time exhibiting at this trade fair, and as a medium sized company we were very pleased with the strong interest shown in our machines. On a Multigrind® CB, we demonstrated how a fully finished turbine blade can be ground from a cubic blank.
We deliberately rely on grinding for this application. The extremely high strength material alloys used in turbine manufacturing, such as Inconel, repeatedly prove to be real milling tool killers in practice. Grinding offers clear advantages in this respect.
The level of interest shown by many visitors at our booth was so high that we decided to produce a short film about this machining process. The footage has already been recorded, or stored on a chip as one might say today, and the film is currently being edited.
As soon as the film is completed, it can be ordered directly from Haas Schleifmaschinen, free of charge of course. To conclude, we would like to share a few impressions from the trade fair along with a booth image taken from the film.
