A Gamechanger Cannot Be Copied

As many of you know, I am not particularly fond of anglicisms. Nevertheless, a few years ago I chose the term “gamechanger” to describe our ambition for the Multigrind® Radical.

Why? Because a gamechanger is not simply better, faster, or more economical. It breaks with established ways of working, renders existing mechanisms obsolete, and opens up entirely new possibilities. When we developed the Multigrind® Radical, we did not set out to optimize an existing machine concept. We radically reimagined tool manufacturing. And we followed that vision through with absolute consistency.

Today, our ambition goes even further. We are no longer simply a supplier of grinding machines. We develop end-to-end solutions for tool manufacturing, from order intake and automated production to quality assurance and the effective use of relevant production data.

We do not simply sell machines. We provide solutions for the future of tool manufacturing.

This requires technology, process expertise, automation, data, experience, and, not least, entrepreneurial courage. A component can be replicated. A message can be adopted. And apparently, even the staging of a product launch can be imitated with remarkable accuracy. But that does not come close to creating a fully functioning solution.

A good idea can and should inspire others. Of course, we closely observe developments within our industry. And it appears that others are watching what we do just as closely. That is part of competition. But to me, good competition means responding to a strong idea with an original answer. Perhaps even a better one. That is what drives progress. Those who merely follow in the footsteps of others will never open up new paths of their own.

We will continue to challenge established mechanisms, pursue our own path, and invest in genuine change. Because a gamechanger is not created by a claim. Nor is it created by a remarkably familiar video.

The staging can be recreated. The entrepreneurial achievement behind it cannot.
