Here the music plays

Hard to believe. Just over four weeks ago, we learned that we Swabians may well be the oldest cultural people in the world. In mid May, the sensational discovery of the oldest known female sculpture was announced. And now, the archaeological team led by Professor Nicholas Conard from the University of Tübingen has uncovered the world’s oldest musical instrument in the Hohler Fels cave near Schelklingen.

The find is a small bone flute, approximately 220 millimetres long and, according to the Tübingen experts, at least 35,000 years old. I am truly fascinated. After all, Haas Schleifmaschinen is headquartered in the music town of Trossingen, from where Bob Dylan once sourced his harmonicas.

When I look at this little flute, I cannot help but wonder whether something like it could also be produced on a Multigrind® CB. It would certainly be worth a try. After all, when it comes to grinding technology, the music is played here in Trossingen as well.
